I am putting together my first rail. I actually never touched a VW engine before and needless to say its much different than what I am used to. I also never dealt with clutches and pressure plates. This project has been the funnest thing for me to figure out and to put something together so nicely for something I don't know much of.
But its coming down to the dealine of Halloween and that has been the goal since February to go on that weekend (as most people are doing the same). But I am starting to get worried of putting my engine on my transaxle. I think I have the right throw out bearing. Im not sure if my clutch is the right one for my engine and if my bearing goes with the transaxle or with the pressure plate also.
Its a 2275cc engine I believe was built by Scat not too long ago, Also a early model 3 rib bus transaxle that I just bought off donsbusbox.com.
Oh yeah and another thing is that I just bought bus CV stubs to replace the sedan CV Stubs and I was wondering if anyone had anyone suggestions on taking those off and what to look for. I got the tool for the bolt but I am thinking I need to put on my brakes and lock them up to not have the bolt turn.
Any kind of help would be awesome! Or if anyone like to do hands on work, Im sure I could compensate for anything. I just dont want to mess anything up. Germans are touchy you know. _________________ Its a sand thing...

VW used an early model and a late model throw out bearing here’s a link to a few pictures of the differences between the two different throw out bearings and transmissions.

As for your axles you do need something to hold it so you can get the nut off putting on your brakes and the tires would be the best idea.

The last post looks right . You need to match the pressure plate to the Th bearing. Also you need to renforce the arm that moves the bearing back and forth or it will break on any hd pressure plate. I love to work on rails and can come help any time. I,m retired and work for Pepsi. CB _________________ Jesus loves all. Jesus, Family ,Friends, sand . Love to ride, help friends and family.
